Fusayama–Meyer Artificial Saliva Solution is a classical, literature-referenced artificial saliva formulation widely used in dental and oral research. It is designed for the evaluation of demineralization–remineralization behavior of enamel and dentin, chemical stability of dental materials, and in-vitro simulation of the oral environment.
The solution combines sodium, potassium, calcium, and phosphate ions with physiologically relevant urea content and a slightly acidic pH, closely mimicking the ionic and physicochemical characteristics of natural saliva. In accordance with the original Fusayama–Meyer concept, the presence of a low-level sulfide component contributes to modeling the redox conditions of the oral cavity.

Product Definition and Intended Use
Fusayama–Meyer Artificial Saliva Solution has been developed to provide controlled and reproducible experimental conditions in dental research. Calcium and phosphate ions in the formulation reflect the solubility balance of dental enamel, while urea represents a key biochemical component of the oral environment.
The slightly acidic pH range enables simulation of critical enamel dissolution conditions. This allows reliable evaluation of the behavior of dental tissues and materials under conditions closely resembling the natural oral environment.

Q & A
What is the pH value of the product?
5.3±0.1 In the literature, a slightly acidic pH is generally used.
Is this product suitable for clinical use?
No. This product is intended exclusively for in-vitro laboratory testing and research purposes.
Is the formulation based on scientific literature?
Yes. The product is based on the classical Fusayama–Meyer artificial saliva formulation widely cited in dental research literature.
Is it suitable for long-term storage?
Due to the presence of sulfide, fresh or short-term use is recommended. For long-term stability, sulfide-free variants may be preferred.
